What if PAS refuse to take up MB post?

Iskandar Samad, the next Selangor MB.

  • The Selangor palace is considering a new menteri besar from PAS due to treason showed by PKR and DAP but what would happened if the Islamic party refuse to take the offer?
  • Several PAS top leaders including Datuk Mustafa Ali and Mohamed Sabu have already made a clear decision that the party is not interested to take up the post, but their boss Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang used his presidential power and named three candidates to the palace.
  • Earlier Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed disappointment with parties disobeyed his decree to submit more than two names for the position.
  • "DAP and PKR's actions reflect their insolence towards the royal institution and is treason towards the Selangor Sultan," said the statement issued by the Sultan's private secretary, Datuk Munir Bani.
  • Luckily PAS submitted three candidates to the palace, namely Iskandar Samad, Salehen Muhyi and Dr. Ahmad Yunus Hairi whereby all of them are scheduled to have an audience with the state ruler any time within this week.
  • Question is, what if the Islamic party refuse to take up the state highest administrative post after Sultan Sarafuddin chose one of PAS excos to lead the state? This will lead to another question, what will PKR and DAP do next?
  • Are they going to commit the highest treason via demonstrations in front of Istana Alam Shah which may cause unnecessary commotion, or using all media engines to instigate the Selangor palace to give back the MB seat to PKR.
  • At the moment, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail made a public statement that she had been "slightly hurt" by Abdul Hadi’s comments on her capabilities as the future Selangor menteri besar.
  • But she added she respected his views and urged all not to respond to his comments, and instead focus on protecting the interests of the people.
  • "I was slightly hurt by the personal attacks against me even though I respect Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's opinion of my abilities and capabilities. However, I am not angry and I accept it as criticism so that I can improve myself, God willing," she said in a statement.
  • Thus, Dr Wan Azizah advised all followers not to respond to the statement made by PAS president and focusing on protecting the people from the actions of Umno/Barisan Nasional.
  • Meanwhile, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali also called on leaders and members of the party to remain calm in facing the Selangor political crisis that is now becoming increasingly critical.
  • He said he was confident that the situation would be resolved. "I urge all PKR leaders and members to remain calm and not resort to doing anything that will make the situation worse.
  • "I admit that we are now facing a little difficulty but I am confident, based on experience and the spirit of cooperation in the party and in Pakatan Rakyat (PR), the PKR leadership will be able to overcome the current situation," he said.
  • Azmin had previously been named as the second candidate besides Dr Wan Azizah by PAS to be appointed as Selangor menteri besar to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
  • Azmin, however, rejected the offer to make way for Dr Wan Azizah, who is also the wife of opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
  • Meanwhile public from various parties gave mixed reaction over who is the most suitable candidate to be the next MB after Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
  • Most PKR followers said Dr. Wan Azizah must take the MB seat even though she is not fit to lead the most complicated state as most administrative decision will be done by her hubby, Anwar either from home or prison.
  • DAP followers prefer the `kipas woman’ as long as the Chinese party can control Anwar, with having his sodomy information in file.
  • PAS followers dream of having either Iskandar, Selehen or Dr Ahmad Yunus to be the next MB so that the party would align the state administration towards Islamic ways. But all in all, the Selangor MB post is still locked in Sultan Sarafuddin’ mind.
  • In the latest development today, rumor said Iskandar to take oath as MB on Friday but he later trashed the report.
  • "I didn’t even know that I was supposed to take an oath. I didn’t even see His Highness the Sultan today as was reported by the media," he said.
  • In a press statement this morning, the Selangor palace confirmed that PAS had been the only party to adhere to the Sultan of Selangor’s request for PAS, DAP and PKR to give the names of at least two candidates. - Yang Benar.
